Who We Are

Women Engaged (WE) is an initiative based in Atlanta, GA, that works to support Black women and young adults to become impactful leaders, key decision-makers and effective agents for social change through voter engagement and reproductive justice advocacy and leadership development.

WE focuses on strengthening the voter participation of new voters and to increase the voting activity of inactive registered voters on the issues paramount to their communities and lives through year round voter education and “Get Out the Vote” campaigns.

Highlights include a documentary short film screening, virtual panel discussions, a presentation of WE’s impact report, a virtual mayoral candidate forum, a family-friendly fitness class, and even more to be announced.

The WE Rise event will be the official kick-off of our week-long events. Focusing on telling WE’s origin story and journey over the years. Highlighting seven years of success and inspiring viewers to take action!

Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST:

The WE Thrive event is a virtual family-friendly Fitness Class Presented by Kukuwa fitness (streaming from Ghana). It will be followed by a conversation with Kukuwa (Mother & Daughter team) and Women Engaged CEO Malika Redmond.

Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST: Join Women Engaged for a Virtual WE Fight Community Conversation being held to discuss reparations, the future of Reproductive Justice, and Black women’s voices within this work.

Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST: The WE Vote event is a Virtual Mayoral Candidate Forum with special guest Maya Rupert. A moderated discussion that gives candidates the opportunity to discuss how their work has and will benefit Black women in Atlanta.

WE LOVE Anniversary Celebration + Award Ceremony

Friday, December 10th, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST: This event will feature an Awards Ceremony to honor community leaders who embody the mission of Women Engaged. WE also have some exciting local talent joining us! Get ready to dance the night away with Atlanta native DJ P Rock and Mausiki Scales & Common Ground Collective. Refreshments will also be served by Mwaza, an Afrofusion catering service.
